The Birds

A couple of weekends ago I joined the IGersWorcestershire team for an instameet in Redditch. We headed up to the top of car park 2 with the hope of seeing over 1000 starlings dancing in the sky, and the show did not disappoint. It was the first time I'd ever seen a murmuration and it truly was an amazing spectacle!

The birds take flight around dusk, moving in from different parts of the town in small groups and build in numbers, making patterns back and forth until they dramatically drop to roost in the conifers below. This is a small selection of images I managed to capture in between staring in awe at the beautiful display.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

In the midst of the Christmas-New Year haze, I could feel the cabin fever coming on, so to keep it at bay we headed off on a road trip up to Leeds. On the way we stopped off at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, which I'd been wanting to visit for ages and with it being so close to the motorway, I didn't have an excuse not to go. The snow had been coming down heavily on route and when we arrived the park was completely white. We hadn't bargained on there being so much snow, nevertheless, we managed a lovely stroll around the main grounds and I was able to capture some shots of the unique sculptures that inhabit the park. Most of the open-air art works pictured below are from Tony Cragg's 'A Rare Category of Objects', which is a brilliant display of material manipulation. I'd definitely recommend a trip to the park and will hopefully head back to explore it more fully in the Summer.

James & Taryn 22.10.17

Back in September, James and Taryn got in touch to ask if I would be interested in photographing their wedding. I was excited yet nervous, not only because it was to be my first wedding but also because it was in 6 weeks time - nothing like being thrown in at the deep end!

On the big day, everyone gathered for an outdoor ceremony, which was brave considering the time of year and the fact that Storm Brian had been on the loose the evening before. Luckily the storm blew over and we were treated to some sunny spells, which couldn't have been more perfect.

Venue: The Wroxeter Hotel, Shrewsbury

Here are some of my favourites from the day:

Behind the Scenes - Move Dancewear

Back in August I was lucky enough to travel to Manchester and hang out with the Move Dancewear team as they shot their Autumn 2017 gymnastic clothing range. The brilliant Mark Howe was in charge of photography for the day and it was great to see him at work in the studio and on location, and to get involved in the shoot.

Here are some behind the scenes images I captured of local gymnasts Yasmin and Ruby during the shoot.
